iTunes freezes on video playback

I’ve been getting complaints from several folks that when they play my shows on iTunes, it locks up the whole fuckin’ machine. So I checked it out and boom the whole fucking thing froze. Not iTunes, but the whole OS! I had to force reboot the damned thing. In disbelief I tried it again. Same shit.

I re-encoded several different ways and same thing. So I played the clip on Miro and no problem.

Upon investigation, I found this link from the Apple Support Forums, with a whole bunch of angry motherfuckers with the same problem.

This has been happening for at least a few weeks and not a peep has been heard from Apple. Well, in my opinion, this is a major fuckin issue!

Anybody else have any horror stories?

  • I dont use itunes or ipod, but Ive noticed that VLC player finds it hard work to play your mpeg4s.

My integrated video is sufficient for other avis/mp4s. What sort of settings do you encode with? Maybe slightly non standard?

Id be interested to see if its specific to the settings in the encoder or what.

  • Ohh yeah – its H264 isnt it? Needs abit more computing power than older codecs. I have dubords ‘society of the spectacle’ in H264 and it does a similar thing.
