untold stories of the 2008 presidential conventions
An independent documentary by Franklin López (subMedia.TV) and PepperSpray Productions. Footage from over a dozen indy journalists drives this searing exposé of police brutality and democratic rights. Ground Noise & Static tracks the rise of the new activist movement and the parallel rise in repression in America. Available now online or on DVD. (30 minutes)
In the wake of this summer’s defiant protests in St. Paul and Denver comes Ground Noise & Static, the instant underground hit from Franklin López and PepperSpray Productions.
The documentary is dedicated to learning from the conventions, reporting on how organizers relied on successful tactics and adaptive management. As the conflict intensifies in the host cities, the video exposes the latest wave of police aggression against protestors, indy journalists, and media activists.
This summer’s protests were unprecedented. Volunteers started preparing their “welcoming committees” a full year in advance. But before and during the conventions, police attempted to cripple the movement by raiding activists’ homes, seizing equipment and arresting key individuals.

Yep, the Anarchists are also in the NYC and they are going to show some subMedia stuff on April 11th. Go here for details.

In December 2003 we produced a short called ‘Join the Resistance: Fall in Love’ inspired by a book called ‘Days of War, Nights of Love’ by CrimeThinc. If you haven’t read it already, by all means pick it up. Anywho, never in our wildest dreams did we think this film was going to be accepted the way it did. In the span of a year the short was dowloaded over 100,000 times via our website, bit torrent etc and impromptu screenings popped up all over the world. We are following this one with ‘Why I Love Shoplifting From Big Corporations’ also inspired by the book. We busted ass making this one, and we hope you enjoy it. This film is part of our first effort at making a compilation mixed with a ‘zine we like to call Molotov. So if you like our work, consider purchasing a copy and then making a copy to give to your friend
