¡Vieques Resiste!

Vieques is a small Caribbean island that boasts some of the most beautiful beaches in the world. It is home to generations of men and women, who survive from the bounty of the ocean and the land. It is also the stomping ground to thousands of feral horses. Vieques is a municipality of what is now known as Puerto Rico, a colony of the United States of America.

In the 1940’s the US Navy forcibly evicted the people of Vieques out of the east and west sides of the island and installed naval bases and used its pristine beaches, as heavy weaponry target ranges.

After 50 plus years of bombings, abusive behaviors by US servicemen, and general disinterest by the Puerto Rican government, the people Vieques had had enough. They launched a campaign of civil disobedience and sabotage that was joined by thousands of international sympathizers, with the departure of the navy as the main objective.

On May first 2003, As US President George W Bush boasted of a victory over Iraq aboard a Navy aircraft carrier, the same Navy was quietly closing its doors on Vieques. This year people in Vieques are supposed to be celebrating the tenth anniversary of this victory

The U.S. Navy and its enablers should clean the DU and dioxin in Vieques with their tongues. This is what we get by being part of the United Snakes, poison.

What’s the point of winning if death peeks out from every corner?

  4. They won the battle, not the war. It’s good to celebrate these victories as long as we understand that this is a long term struggle.

    You gotta live for something,….

¨Get busy livin’, or get busy dyin’, and when you are gonna die anyway might as well strike a blow for freedom!¨

    ¨Viva la Revolucion!¨

I’d love to see this translated in Hangul(Korean).
My birth father is from The Autonomous Province of JeJu, also known as JeJu Island just off the southern coast of the Korean peninsula.
They are currently resisting a US Naval Base construction, at the moment.
If my Hangul and Spanish were more solid, I’d love to help, but hopefully someone out there can do a good sub for it.
If you end up getting a translation in Korean, Stim, could you forward me a mirror link, please?

It’s interesting that the US Govt is eager to go after Syria for its supposed use of chemical weapons (leaks suggest that it was a false flag event, anticipated by the US as a “game changer”, google for “is syria a trap?” memorandum, but here is another example of the kind of acts and legacies left behind by our own gov’t with disregard.
